Area goings-on

As a newcomer to the area, and fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, living out in the sticks, I'm curious about what sort of activities and events people attend in these parts, outside of amateur radio related stuff.

Although I'm still on the fence about whether I want to keep my motorcycle, a 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500, mainly because I almost got rear-ended by some numbnut while I was on a country road going about 55MPH. In the few seconds between scanning my rearviews, this idiot came up on me so fast they had to hit their brakes to avoid hitting me! Aside from not wanting to end up like Peter Fonda in Easy Rider though, I'd love to get with some other riders.

One of the things I enjoyed about the ham clubs back in Arizona is that virtually everyone liked to exercise their firearms, and those who didn't took up the slack with barbecues and such. Since I've met some of the nicest, most American people at gun shows, I was planning on heading up to the show this weekend at the state fairgrounds in OKC, but between the weather and the new dog, it just didn't work out. But I wonder; am I the only gun nut here, and if not, where do you go to plink and what shows do you go to? Thus far I've only met a handful of the group's regulars at the 2025 Hamarama in Ardmore, and I really do want to try to connect more with the long-time locals, both within and without the ham scene.
